Our Commitment to Privacy

WeFlap's Privacy Policy is designed to help you understand how we collect and use the information you decide to share through our web site and our Partners, and help you make informed decisions when using WeFlap, located at www.weflap.org, www.weflap.com, and its directly associated domains (collectively, "WeFlap"). By using or accessing WeFlap, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Your privacy is important to us. Our ongoing commitment to the protection of your privacy is essential to maintaining the relationship of trust that exists between WeFlap and all of our users, whether they be Non Governmental Organizations (“NGO” or “NGOs”), members of our web site, volunteers, clients or donors of NGOs, or other visitors to the site (collectively, “you”, “User” or “Users”). This notice of our Privacy Policy is intended to help you understand our online information security practices.

The Information We Collect

You may have accessed WeFlap directly by visiting our web site, through an e-mail about WeFlap from someone else who heard about our web site, or through the web site of one of our third-party partners. This notice applies to all information you submit to WeFlap, whether through the WeFlap web site or through the web site of one of our Partners. Please note that we cannot be responsible for the information you submit directly to third parties, including our Partners, who may have their own posted policies regarding the collection and use of your information. We urge you to review the policies of our Partners through whom you may access our services.

WeFlap collects User submitted account information such as your name, email address, etc., to identify you and send you notifications related to the use of the services we provide. WeFlap also collects User submitted location and contact information such as city, state, zip code, country, phone number, etc. WeFlap also collects User submitted photos, videos, reviews, ratings of NGOs, etc. Some information collected is not explicitly submitted by Users; we log your browser-type related information, IP address, requested URL, referring URL, and timestamp. All User submitted information on WeFlap is posted at the User’s own risk. Although we allow User’s to set privacy options that limit access to their profile pages, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. WeFlap cannot control the actions of other Users with whom you may choose to share your pages and information. Therefore, WeFlap cannot and do not guarantee that User content posted by a User on the web site will not be viewed by unauthorized persons. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the web site. Users must understand and acknowledge that, even after removal, copies of user content may remain viewable in cached and archived pages or if other Users have copied or stored the User’s Content.

Any improper collection or misuse of information provided on WeFlap is a violation of the WeFlap’s Terms of Service and should be reported to WeFlap through one of the mechanisms provided in the “Contact” section of the Site.

How We Use Information

Your full name and email address may also be used when you send an email notification to a friend (such as in an invitation, or when sharing a review). We may also use your email address to send you updates or news regarding our site. Additionally, we use your email address to contact you on behalf of your friends or NGOs you are friends with (such as when someone sends you a message).

Browser-type related information, IP address, requested URL, referring URL, and timestamp data help us diagnose problems with our server, administer WeFlap, and otherwise provide the highest possible level of service to you. In addition, we use this information to perform statistical analyses of user behavior and characteristics in order to measure interest in and use of the various areas of the site and to inform advertisers of such information as well as the number of users that have been exposed to or clicked on, their advertising banners.

WeFlap may use information in your profile without identifying you as an individual to third parties. We do this for purposes such as aggregating how many people in a network are supporting an NGO, how many people are interested in a cause, how many people are from certain companies or geographies, etc. We believe that this information is helpful in making WeFlap a self-sustainable non-profit organization and assist the NGOs that you support. For example, we believe that this information will allow Third Parties and WeFlap Partners to support the same NGOs and causes that you do.

Profile information you submit to WeFlap will be available to Users of WeFlap who belong to at least one of the networks you allow to access the information through your privacy settings (e.g., WeFlap, NGOs, friends, friends of friends, etc.). Your name, network names, and profile picture thumbnail will be available in search results across the WeFlap network and those limited pieces of information may be made available to third party search engines. This is primarily so your friends can find you and send a friend request. People who see your name in searches, however, will not be able to access your profile information unless they have a relationship to you (friend, friend of friend, member of an NGO you are friends with, etc.) that allows such access based on your privacy settings.

For Newsletter and Notification Subscribers

We may use our email lists for sending out our newsletter and other WeFlap outbound communications and Notifications, such as information about new NGOs, information about your friends on WeFlap, product enhancements, tool upgrades, or membership news.

For Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs)

If you submit Information to us as an NGO, then, subject to the Terms of Service as a NGO member of WeFlap, your Information will be accessible by anyone who accesses WeFlap. In addition, we may share your Information with selected Partners in order to verify your organization’s identity, validity of your work and tax status.

Children’s Privacy

Currently, WeFlap does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 13 or knowingly allow such persons to register. If you are under 13, please do not attempt to register with WeFlap or send any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, or email address. No one under age 13 may provide any personal information to or on WeFlap. In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that we might have any information from or about a child under the age of 13, please contact us at through one of the mechanisms provided in the “Contact” section of the Site. We recommend that minors over the age of 13 ask their parents for permission before sending any information about themselves to anyone over the internet or to WeFlap.

Cookies

Cookies are tiny data files that web sites commonly write to your hard drive when you visit them so that they can remember you when you visit. A cookie file contains information that can identify you anonymously and maintain your account’s privacy. Our site uses cookies to maintain a user’s identity between sessions so that the site can be personalized based on user preferences or a user’s history. However, if you choose not to accept cookies from this web site, then you may not be able to access and use all or part of this web site or benefit from the information and services which it offers.

Third Party Advertising

In some cases, you may see Advertisements from Third Parties appear on WeFlap. These Advertisements enable WeFlap to make itself into a self-sustainable non-profit social business. The Advertisements that appear on WeFlap are sometimes delivered (or "served") directly to users by third party advertisers. They automatically receive your IP address when this happens. These third party advertisers may also download cookies to your computer, or use other technologies such as JavaScript and "web beacons" (also known as "1x1 gifs") to measure the effectiveness of their ads and to personalize advertising content. Doing this allows the advertising network to recognize your computer each time they send you an advertisement in order to measure the effectiveness of their ads and to personalize advertising content. In this way, they may compile information about where individuals using your computer or browser saw their advertisements and determine which advertisements are clicked. WeFlap does not have access to or control of the cookies that may be placed by the third party advertisers. Third party advertisers have no access to your contact information stored on WeFlap unless you choose to share it with them.

This privacy policy covers the use of cookies by WeFlap and does not cover the use of cookies or other tracking technologies by any of its advertisers.

Third-party Access and Use

Occasionally, we or our Partners hire third-party service providers to help provide or improve the services we offer you. Sometimes it is necessary for these providers to have access to the Information we collect about you. In those cases, we take reasonable steps to ensure that these providers do not use or otherwise disclose any Information we collect about you except for the purpose of fulfilling their service obligations to us and our Partners.

In the unlikely event that WeFlap undergoes a sale or transfer of all or substantially all of its assets, the acquiring entity will be subject to this Privacy Policy in its use of your personally identifiable Information. In addition, in the further unlikely event that WeFlap is adjudicated bankrupt or insolvent (a) there will be no further use or disclosure of your personally identifiable Information by WeFlap and (b) your personally identifiable Information will be destroyed. In addition, there will be no use or disclosure of your personally identifiable Information by any entity that acquires assets of WeFlap pursuant to such bankruptcy or insolvency proceedings.

Your privacy is very important to us. Due to factors beyond our control, however, we cannot fully ensure that your Information will not be disclosed to third parties. For example, we may be legally obligated to disclose Information to the government or third parties under certain circumstances or third parties may circumvent our security measures to unlawfully intercept or access your Personal Information.

If you are an NGO, member of an NGO or user with an account on WeFlap (either through WeFlap or a Partner’s web site) you can modify or delete your personal information at any time by accessing the “Profile” section of the site.

You do not need to contact us to access your record or to make any changes. If you have problems changing your Information, please contact us through one of the mechanisms provided in the “Contact” section of the Site.

Your Ability to Opt-out of Newsletters & Communications

Subscriptions to WeFlap newsletters and notifications are optional and WeFlap allows NGOs, volunteers, subscribers or other users to unsubscribe from newsletters and notifications at any time. In each newsletter and notification we provide instructions regarding how to opt-out from receiving future mailings. You can your settings to receive newsletters and notifications at any time by accessing the “Profile” section of the site.

We reserve the right to send you certain communications relating to the WeFlap service, such as the occasional service and product announcement or administrative message, that are considered part of your WeFlap account without offering you the opportunity to opt out of receiving them.

Our Commitment To Data Security

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of Information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the Information we collect online.

Changes to Policy

You should visit this page periodically to review any changes to the Privacy Policy. Continued use of the WeFlap web site following notice of any such changes shall indicate your acknowledgement of such changes and agreement to be bound by the terms and conditions of such changes. We reserve the right to change our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use at any time.
